About Us

Who We Are

We are so glad you found our little home online. While our building is in Omaha our heart is all over the world with those we serve. Here is a little bit about who we are and what we believe in.

We believe in a big God and the big difference His people can make in the world.

What We Believe

King of Kings is a community of believers who love life and being part of something bigger than ourselves. We believe in the Bible that was uniquely God inspired without error and has the final authority on all matters on which it bears. It teaches us that there is only one God. You might have heard of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit…well this is what we call God in three persons. We believe that God created humans to have a relationship with Him. We also believe that we need His saving grace, which is offered to everyone and received with faith in Jesus Christ. We are part of The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. What’s a Synod you might ask? (Good question!) Synod comes from Greek words that mean “walking together.” We join together with other Christian churches in the simple profession of: faith based on God’s word.

We hope you will join us in this adventurous walk.

Who Is Jesus?

Jesus Christ is God’s perfect Son, who through His birth from the Virgin Mary lived a sinless life on earth 2,000 years ago. He voluntarily paid for our sins by dying on the cross for us. His death gained salvation for all who receive it as a gift by trusting in Him alone. He rose from the dead and is the only Mediator between God and us. He will return to Earth to conclude all things and reign forever.

Who is the Father?

God the Father is creator of the universe and maker of everything in Heaven and on Earth.

Who is the Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit draws sinners to Christ, creates faith in our hearts and equips believers for personal growth and service to God.

What is Holy Communion?

On the night before Jesus died on the cross, He shared a last supper with His disciples. This experience that happened so many years ago compels us to this day to celebrate Holy Communion. Jesus invited us to share this gift until He returns so that we may have forgiveness of sins, strengthening of faith, and the power to live God-pleasing lives.

God’s Word tells us that when we receive Communion, we are not merely receiving bread and wine, but the body and blood of Jesus Christ. Baptized adult Christians are invited to share this great gift of God. We ask that children experience our Communion preparation classes (in 5th & 6th grades) before taking communion.

White grape juice is located in the inner ring of the Communion tray for those who would prefer its use. We also offer gluten-free wafers, available at the center communion stations, for those with gluten allergies.

If you have questions about Communion we encourage you to talk with one of our pastors after Worship or please call the Church Office at 402.333.6464.

Mission & Vision

King of Kings exists to bring people to know, love, and follow Jesus that His Kingdom would be advanced. We want to inspire the most imaginative, innovative, and involved followers of Jesus Christ, who will stop at nothing to bring the world to experience His saving love.

Discipleship Strategy

While being a disciple (follower) of Jesus is filled with a whole lot of blessings and responsibilities, we have tried to sum up what it means with four words: Worship, Grow, Serve, and Go. WORSHIP- Connect with God in worship and prayer. GROW- Connect with others around God’s Word. SERVE- Connect with others to serve them by using my gifts. GO- Connect with the world to bring people to know, love, and follow Jesus.

King of Kings held its first worship service on February 4, 1962 in the Western Electric auditorium, near 120th and I Streets with about 75 people in attendance.  In 1963 we broke ground to construct our own building at 124th and West Center Streets. God blessed the congregation throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s, with four building expansions that eventually resulted in a 35,000 square foot facility and more than 2,500 members. King of Kings also supported and planted other congregations in these decades.

Keeping our eyes on God and obeying His leading, we purchased a 266,000 square foot manufacturing plant at 116th and I Streets. On September 11, 1994, the congregation dedicated phase one of the conversion of the building. In 2004, King of Kings’ members approved the purchase of 131 acres on the northeast corner of Highways 370 and 50 as we look to future growth.
